“Who is this child? Since our son has started working with Harris, we hardly recognize him. Not only have his grades improved, but his attitude towards school has, as well. It’s been amazing to watch the transformation as our son has tapped into his potential, gotten out of his own way and realized that he can be an excellent student. Could not have done this without Harris. His professionalism and love of what he does is contagious.”

“Both of our sons have worked with Harris for 3 years.  We began during a challenging year of remote learning, hoping that he could keep their learning on par with a traditional school year.  Our experience has exceeded our expectations, and we haven’t hesitated to continue working with Harris in the years that followed.  He has taught our children to think critically about their reading and to have confidence in their writing abilities.  With strong academic competence as our goal, we hope our children will continue to work with Harris to build upon the foundation he has helped them establish.”

”A friend recommended Harris to me. My daughter in 8th is very bright and percolates with ideas, but I am afraid she already finds school boring. Harris works with her to supplement and enhance what she learns in school. They tackle challenging texts that interest my daughter and build on her curiosity and areas of interest. One week they examine the first sentences of great novels; another session involves writing scripts for television shows my daughter loves; the next week they’re investigating the Italian and the Harlem Renaissance. I wish I had a tutor like Harris when I was a kid. I would’ve been such a more interested student. What I know and appreciate most is when my daughter finishes her weekly session, she is usually pretty fired up about a new idea or story or writing challenge they’re working on.”

“Our daughter has worked with Harris for 2.5 years. He has helped her so much both academically and in increasing her confidence. They have developed such a nice relationship. She enjoys their sessions and definitely feels like she has become a better student because of the time spent with Harris. He knows how to communicate and motivate kids! We are so grateful for his guidance and expertise!”

”We inquired about Harris’ services after hearing great things from our friends whose daughter is on the autism spectrum and has been having a difficult time making the adjustment to high school. We kept our expectations low because we know our daughter, sweet as she is, isn’t always the easiest child to work with. Harris and she hit it off immediately and not only did her grades improve, but all of a sudden the house was a lot more peaceful. Fewer stress filled nights for everyone. Instead of guiding and monitoring her through every task, which only makes her bristle more, she and Harris seem to work through her biggest obstacles and come out the other side all in one piece. And usually smiling! In short, Harris has become more than just a tutor. We feel like he’s part of the family.”

“I cannot recommend Harris highly enough. I believe that it is Harris’ natural ability to communicate with teenagers, combined with 20+ years in a classroom, that makes him such a stellar tutor. My son has had the great fortune to work with Harris for the last four years, weekly at the onset and then periodically as challenging projects arose."

Harris began working with my son at the beginning of his sophomore year of high school because he lacked confidence in expressing himself through his writing. Over the course of the next three years, my son not only became a much more sophisticated writer, but he started to truly enjoy writing. His junior and senior year English and History teachers commented on his grasp of content, thoughtful written analyses, and participation. We attribute this academic and personal growth in large part to Harris’ encouragement and training.

We also feel incredibly lucky that Harris was available during COVID. So much important in-class experience was missed during that time. Harris was able to supplement academic gaps so that my son headed into college with valuable organizational strategies, critical thinking skills, and well-honed research techniques. All of the work was via Zoom, which is a testament to Harris’ adaptability, creativity, and professionalism.

Harris is also a terrific partner for parents. He is reliable and always on time, and he never fails to keep parents informed of student’s progress with regular feedback.

Finally, and equally important, Harris is one of the most caring and patient people our family knows! His support, encouragement, and dedication to his students are unsurpassed.”
